West Virginia Makes Initial Cut For 4-Star Defensive End Dylan Gooden

The Our Lady Good Counsel High School football team in Olney, Maryland has two really talented national junior recruits.

2023 4-star defensive end Neeo Avery made a commitment to Penn State on New Year’s Eve and his teammate is has started the process of narrowing down his list of teams.

Junior defensive end Dylan Gooden (6’6″, 205) released his Top 8 schools on Monday and it included West Virginia, Penn State, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Maryland, Notre Dame, Miami and Tennessee. Gooden is rated as a 4-star recruit by both Rivals and 247 Sports, who rate him as one of the Top 100 juniors in the country.

Back on May 4, Neal Brown and West Virginia were the first D-1 program to extend Gooden an offer. Since then, Gooden has made multiple visits to Morgantown, the first one in June and then again on December 13.

An interesting sidenote about Gooden, is that he’s the son of former great New York Mets pitcher Dwight Gooden.
