For the second day in a row, Neal Brown’s program loses a player to the NCAA Transfer Portal.

2020 3-star defensive end Eddie Watkins has decided to leave West Virginia after just one season with the team. After redshirting last season, Watkins appeared in 2 games this season in a reserve role and collected 1 tackle and 1 tackle for a loss.

Watkins was a 3-star recruit from Hillcrest High School in Evergreen, Alabama. He committed to West Virginia after originally giving a verbal to Georgia Tech. Aside from those two programs, Watkins also held offers from Arizona, Central Michigan, Kentucky, Missouri, Purdue, Central Florida, UAB, Tulane and South Alabama.

On Wednesday, redshirt freshman linebacker James Thomas announced his decision to also enter the transfer portal.
