WVU Basketball Receives Votes in AP Top 25 Poll

WVU basketball received 26 votes in this week’s AP Top 25 poll, which was released Monday morning.
It was the first time the Mountaineers have received votes this season and the first time they have received votes under head coach Darian DeVries.
West Virginia (5-2) picked up a pair of impressive ranked wins at the Battle 4 Atlantis overย No. 3 Gonzagaย andย No. 24 Arizona. WVU also took tournament runner-up Louisville down to the wire as the Mountaineers went into overtime in all three tournament games.
WVU basketball seniors Tucker DeVries and Javon Small were both named to theย Battle 4 Atlantis all-tournament teamย on Saturday.
Small averaged 23.7 points per game with 17 rebounds, 17 assists and six steals. He scored 31 points in the teamโs upset win over Gonzaga on Wednesday.
DeVries averaged 16.7 points per game with 12 total three-pointers in the tournament. He scored a team-high 26 points in the win over Arizona.
Gonzaga dropped four spots to No. 7 this week while Arizona dropped out of the top 25 entirely and did not receive any votes.
Other Big 12 teams in the poll include No. 1 Kansas, No. 6 Iowa State, No. 14 Cincinnati, No. 15 Baylor and No. 17 Houston. Arizona State, BYU and Texas Tech all received votes in addition to West Virginia.
West Virginiaโs next game is Friday at home against Georgetown at 7 p.m.
