WVU Football CB recruit Deuce Edwards

West Virginia has another win over a rival thanks to a top recruit committing to the WVU on Saturday.

Terrance “Deuce” Edwards announced his decision to become a Mountaineer over Virginia Tech and Michigan State.

Edwards (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) closed May by placing the three final contenders on a graphic, pitting the Mountaineers against the rival Hokies and involving a school from the ACC, Big Ten and Big 12. This type of recruiting victory is a big deal for the WVU football program.

The class of 2025 cornerback, who took his official visit to WVU in late March, attends the Trinity Episcopal School in Richmond, Va. Every major recruiting outlet has Edwards rated with three stars and a spot within the top 20 Virginia based players. He’s also considered a top 50 cornerback nationally by most.

Edwards told WV Sports Now that “they love me and want me there” while referring to his talks with the West Virginia coaches.

Rivals views Edwards with the most favorable ranking, placing him as the No. 11 recruit in the state. WVU’s plan to build a longstanding relationship with Edward may be what eventually wins out. West Virginia was one of the first FBS schools to show interest in Edwards, sending him an offer in May of 2022.

Edwards showed his versatility and playmaking ability during his junior season in 2023, recording 33 tackles, three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, one forced fumble and even scored five times on offense.

Before narrowing down his list, Edwards was being pursued by schools like Boston College, Clemson, Colorado, Florida State, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia among many others from all levels around the country.
