Back in March, WVU and head coach Neal Brown agreed to new contract on the heels of West Virginia’s 9-4 season in 2023. And while some questioned extending Brown after one successful season, the structure of the deal serves to assist the program. But Brown is also not the only coach with an adjusted contract.

Part of Brown’s new arrangement with WVU includes rewarding several prominent assistant coaches. As first reported by WVSports.com and confirmed by WV Sports Now, Brown taking a $400,000 pay cut over three years will result in raises for his assistant coaches.

Raises for offensive coaches:

  • Offensive coordinator Chad Scott’s salary has increased to $700,000 for 2024 and will jump to $725,000 in 2024 from $575,000 in 2023.
  • Offensive line coach Matt Moore is experiencing a bump from $440,000 to $525,000 in 2024 and then $550,000 in 2025.
  • Wide receivers coach Bilal Marshall’s salary gores from $200,000 to $250,000 in 2024 and $300,000 in 2025.
  • Tight ends coach Blaine Stewart’s salary moves from $200,000 to $225,000 for the next two years.

Raises for defensive coaches:

  • Defensive coordinator Jordan Lesley’s salary has increased to $775,000 in 2024 and will spike to $800,000 in 2025 compared to $750,000 in 2023.
  • Secondary coach ShaDon Brown is enjoying a big increase, going from $450,000 to $500,000 this year and $525,000 in 2025.
  • Inside linebackers coach Jeff Koonz’s salary is now $450,000 from $400,000 and will increase to $475,000 in 2025.
  • Defensive line coach Andrew Jackson will now be at $400,000 from $355,000 in 2023. He will then see another raise in 2025 to $425,000.
