WVU QB Scotty Fox Announces Return to Mountaineers: ‘Let’s Work’
The addition of Oklahoma transfer Michael Hawkins doesn’t seem to be scaring Scotty Fox Jr. The sophomore quarterback announced his plans to return to West Virginia on Friday night.
“Let’s work,” posted Fox. He also put up a video of some of his time as a Mountaineer.

Fox will now hope for a chance to compete to maintain the job he finished 2025 with – West Virginia’s starting quarterback.
Fox, then a freshman, emerged throughout last season after gaining an opportunity to play due to a depth chart that endured multiple injuries.
Fox threw for 1,276 yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions. He added 201 more yards and three more scores on the ground.

But for as many highlights, Fox also made mistakes. Those mistakes and a pressure to win as soon as possible led to Rich Rodriguez looking to the transfer portal for a veteran with a higher ceiling. He believes he found that guy in Hawkins, a former four-star prospect and transfer out of Oklahoma.
With Fox sticking around, he will now have to prove he’s the better option to continue leading the Mountaineers.

i’m not sure what rrod has up his sleeve for 26 qb but fox will be the starter if he just stays,, i think he has 3 more yrs to play,, and i’m fairly sure he will be the starter in at least two of the three, and deserves it,,

Fox isnt scared of a QB battle. But the incoming QB is outstanding. Rodriguez will probably use both. Watch out WVU is coming back. Rodriguez dont play. I’ve always been a supporter.

I’m so glad he is coming back. He’s a real gamer.
Best of luck
