Pittsburgh Steelers center and former Mountaineer Zach Frazier spent most of his rookie season in the NFL snapping the football to Russell Wilson, a likely future Hall of Famer with more than 50,000 combined passing and rushing yards and 381 total touchdowns.

Now in his second season in the league, Frazier will partner with Aaron Rodgers, a top 10 (or even top five, depending who you ask) quarterback of all time. Speaking with Steelers’ media on Tuesday, June 11, Frazier discussed the whirlwind start to his career: especially how he, as a kid, would’ve felt to learn about his career trajectory.

“Itโ€™s pretty cool. Definitely myself as a younger kid would be pretty excited about it,” Frazier said. “I mean, I am too, but itโ€™s pretty cool.”

While he’s a surefire first ballot hall of famer, Rodgers has drawn criticism in recent seasons for his outspoken behavior off the field, taking time during the season to make high profile podcast appearances on the Pat McAfee Show and earning a reputation as a distraction to his team.

Frazier said Rodgers will take a different approach in Pittsburgh this season and the two will develop chemistry in time.

“He just said heโ€™s all in. Heโ€™s ready to get to work,” Frazier said, further describing how Rodgers’ experience after two decades in the NFL has helped the duo mesh. “We’ll see. I mean, I’m sure we’ll get it all figured out in training camp. He’s played a lot of football so shouldn’t take very long.”

After wrapping up his college career at WVU, Frazier was drafted by the Steelers with the 51st overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He capped off his stellar rookie season from an individual perspective with national recognition like being named to the 2024 PFWA All-Rookie Team and the recipient of the โ€œJoe Greene Great Performance Awardโ€ as Pittsburghโ€™s top performing rookie.

Despite being a rookie and missing a couple games with an injury, Frazier was graded as one of the top centers in the NFL all year by PFF. He opened the season as Pittsburghโ€™s starting center due to a season- ending injury to incumbent Nate Herbig.

In an ESPN poll from during the 2024 regular season, Frazier ranked sixth amongย all NFL rookies. The poll took the opinion of five NFL analysts, including ESPN NFL draft analyst Jordan Reid.
