After the success of the West Virginia Black Bears in the inaugural season of the MLB Draft League, going 30-19-6 with a runner-up finish, baseball will be coming back to Monongalia County Ballpark in the summer of 2022.
The Black Bears will play an 80 game schedule in 2022, including 40 home games at Monongalia County Ballpark, that begins on the road against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on June 2, 2022. The home opener is scheduled for June 7, 2022, against the Frederick Keys.

The season will end on Sept. 4, 2022, against the Scrappers, before the inaugural MLB Draft League Championship takes place on Sept. 6.
With 40 games being played at The Mon, six weekend series will take place over the summer — including the first game played at The Mon on the Fourth of July since 2018. There will be three six-game homestands from June 20-25, July 11-16 and August 16-21.
The season’s opening half will feature amateur players eligible to be selected in the MLB Draft, and the closing half will feature players that have exhausted their amateur status or wish to begin professional careers.
Tickets for Black Bears’ games go on sale on Nov. 22, and all ticketing options can be viewed here.
