Published

Sources tell WV Sports Now that South Carolina transfer Erik Stevenson is committing to West Virginia. Stevenson confirmed the commitment on his Twitter account on Sunday afternoon.

Just recently last Thursday, West Virginia reached out to Stevenson (6-foot-3, 198 pounds) a day after he entered the transfer portal. Last weekend, Stevenson visited Morgantown on his official visit with the basketball program.

Stevenson will be looking to play for his fourth school in college, as he has one year of eligibility left. The Lacey, WA, native played at Wichita State for two seasons, then returned home to play at Washington, before playing for Frank Martin last season at South Carolina. During his sole season in Columbia, Stevenson averaged 11.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists on 33 percent shooting from three. Stevenson shot 98 percent from the free-throw line, missing only one free shot all year.

With the commitment from Stevenson, the Mountaineers are left with four open scholarships. WVU is waiting on Fede Federiko to sign his Letter of Intent.
