No matter what anyone thinks of Bob Huggins, the impacts he’s made on cancer research in West Virginia is something no one can deny. And now the people of West Virginia have a date to circle on their calendars when it comes to seeing Huggins and supporting a great cause.

The 13th annual Bob Huggins Fish Fry is set to take place on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025 at the Hazel & J.W. Ruby Community Center Event Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown.

WVU women’s basketball legend and WVU Sports Hall of Famer Meg Bulger will return as the eventโ€™s emcee. A guest speaker to be named at a later date will also appear.

The doors will open at 5:30 pm ET and individual and sponsor tickets are now available at BobHugginsFishFry.org. The Boston Beanery will cater the event.

“We are excited for another year of an event the community loves,” Huggins said via the Mon Health Medical Center.

“The goal remains the same. We want to raise money to fight cancer and continue helping to provide the best healthcare in our state.”

From the press release: Guests can look forward to a silent auction offering unique items and experiences, plus an exclusive live auction with rare, in-person-only items. Proceeds from the Bob Huggins Fish Fry, presented by Little General Stores, will benefit the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Endowment, supporting cancer care services at Vandalia Health, and the Remember the Miners Scholars Program.

Multiple sponsorship levels are available, offering exciting ways for businesses and individuals to support these important causes.

Huggins has mostly stayed out of the spotlight in recent months aside from a summer reunion with former WVU players in Akron, Ohio.

Huggins is now 71 years old and has 935 career wins, which is third on the all-time wins list amongst coaches. He led both Cincinnati (1992) and WVU (2010) to an appearance in the Final Four. Huggins was named Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2015 and was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022.

For a related story, Fox broadcaster Tim Brando described his encounter with Bob Huggins at a WVU football game.
