Mountaineers in the Pros
Blue Jays P Alek Manoah Beats Pirates, Claiming Win as Mountaineer in Pittsburgh

At least one Mountaineer picked up a win in Pittsburgh this week.
Former West Virginia pitcher Alek Manoah was straight up dealing all night at PNC Park. He earned the win for the Blue Jays in a 4-0 victory over the Pirates on Friday night.

Throwing in front of his family, Manoah pitched 7 1/3 shutout innings, allowing five hits while walking one and striking out six. The WVU product improved his record to 13-7 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.48, continuing to emerge as one of the best pitchers in all of baseball.

While Manoah’s performance likely doesn’t make any WVU fans feel better about the Backyard Brawl loss to Pitt, especially because many are likely Pirates fans too since Pittsburgh is the closest pro market to Morgantown, but he keeps making Mountaineer Nation proud none the less.
