West Virginia Basketball received a commitment from Eastern Michigan transfer guard Noah Farrakhan on Thursday. Farrakhan entered the transfer portal on April 5 and then WVU’s coaching staff swooped in.

Farrakhan (6-foot-2) played at EMU under head coach Stan Heath for two years. Farrakhan appeared in 31 games for the Eagles, averaging 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists. The Hillside, N.J. native shot 43% from the field and 24% from three.

Farrakhan began his collegiate career at East Carolina, committing as a three-star high school recruit. Farrakhan was formerly a five-star recruit at one point while playing at The Patrick School.

Farrakhan becomes WVU’s 13th player for the 2023-24 season, but will need a waiver as a two-time undergraduate transfer. Farrakhan has two years of eligibility remaining.

West Virginia most recently picked up a commitment from Georgetown forward Akok Akok on Friday night. He averaged 6.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over 31 games. Akok shot 46% from the field and 28% from three on 2.7 attempts per game and recorded three double-doubles last season against Coppin State, Villanova and Xavier. The Manchester, NH. native had three games of five blocks or more.

West Virginia’s new team consists of a lot of talent, but it’s an unknown how everyone will fit together. The coaching staff brought in eight transfers and a 2023 prospect from Israel. Here’s the Mountaineers’ current roster: Akok Akok (F), Jeremiah Bembry (G), RaeQuan Battle (G), Jesse Edwards (C), Noah Farrakhan (G), Josiah Harris (F), Kobe Johnson (G), Kerr Kriisa(G), Ofri Naveh (F), Jose Perez (G), Quinn Slazinski (F), Patrick Suemnick (F) and Seth Wilson (G).
