Mountaineers in the Pros
Bryce Ford-Wheaton Cleared, Ready to Pursue NFL Comeback
Even after enduring a series of injuries that have derailed his NFL career, Bryce Ford-Wheaton is still determined to pursue his dream. He’s cleared and ready to begin working out for teams, according to a report from Jordan Schultz.
The most devastating setback of all came last year when the former Mountaineer wide receiver suffered a torn Achilles during a July practice.
Soon after the news started spreading, Ford-Wheaton shared an emotional statement on social media.
โIโd be lying if I said I wasnโt devastated! I did everything by the book! Didnโt take a single shortcut, left no stone unturned, invested everything into my body and my health this year. Iโm not sure why me but I promise Iโm not going out on these terms. Itโs a long road ahead for sure but I know this is just part of Gods plan for me no matter how tough it may seem right now. Thank you all for your prayers, please continue to keep me in them. I WILL be back thatโs a promise!! God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers! ๐๐ค๐พ,โ said Ford-Wheaton.
2025 became the second lost season in Ford-Wheatonโs short career after also going down with an ACL tear in his first training camp as a rookie. He appeared in 14 games, mostly on special teams, in 2024, with one big highlight that led to a Giants win.
Ford-Wheaton spent four seasons at WVU under head coach Neal Brown. The 6-foot-4 athlete recorded 1,867 receiving yards and scored 15 touchdowns in a span of 38 career games for the Mountaineers.

He completed his senior season with 62 catches and 675 yards. In 2022, Ford-Wheaton was second in the Big 12 in receiving touchdowns with seven. Despite his impressive testing numbers at the NFL Combine, especially his time in the 40-yard dash, the WVU wide receiver product went undrafted before signing with the Giants as a free agent.
