Curtis Jones Jr., Versatile Bandit | WVU Football All 105
All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2025 WVU Football Roster.
Curtis Jones Jr. committed to WVU Football out of Cabell Midland High School in Ona, W.Va. where he starred as both a running back and a linebacker.
A three-star recruit who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 231 pounds, Jones took 74 snaps on special teams during his true freshman season. New head coach Rich Rodriguez has Jones listed as a bandit, a weakside linebacker who can stray toward the line of scrimmage or line up on the inside pre-snap. Once a play begins, the bandit will often drop into coverageโฆ but pre-snap positioning leaves the threat of a blitz on the table.ย
While Jones played sparingly in his first season, heโs one of just four bandits on the Mountaineers roster. Having a specific niche can help him earn playing time in 2025.

Last year: Jones appeared in 11 games during his true freshman season, with all but four of his snaps coming on special teams.
Stats: one assisted tackle
Camp outlook: Jones is the only bandit who played for WVU Football last season, as all the rest are transfers. Expect him to compete with redshirt senior transfer Braden Siders for the top spot.
Projected role: Jones has already demonstrated that he can get on the field on special teams, but his playing time on defense will likely hinge on what types of personnel groupings new defensive coordinator Zac Alley plans to employ.
Accolades, highlights: A three-star recruit in high school, Jones earned recognition from the Mountaineers for his contributions on two separate occasions, receiving the teamโs Blue Collar award against Arizona and the Defensive Champion award against Albany.
