Stills Snubbed on ESPN’s List of Top-50 College Football Players

Yesterday ESPN released a list, compiled by its college football writers, of who they believe are the 50 best college football players entering the 2020 season.

Notably missing from the list was West Virginia senior defensive tackle and Big 12 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year Darius Stills. Stills has been raking in the accolades this preseason, being named to multiple award watchlists, a preseason All-American and the aforementioned conference preseason defensive player of the year.

Stills broke into the spotlight last season, earning First-Team All-Big 12 honors and was a finalist for the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year Award. He racked up 47 tackles and led the team in tackles for loss with 14.5 and tied with his brother for the team lead in sacks with seven.

Despite Stills being left off EPNS’s list, the Big 12 as a whole was well represented. Seven Big 12 players from four schools made the list. Texas led the way with three players.

42. Iowa State QB Brock Purdy
41. Texas OL Sam Cosmi
30. Texas S Caden Sterns
28. Oklahoma OL Creed Humphrey
25. Texas QB Sam Ehlinger
17. Oklahoma State WR Tylan Wallace
11. Oklahoma State RB Chuba Hubbard
