PITTSBURGH – While Ross Hodge has been building most of the new WVU basketball roster through the transfer portal, the program also boasts the highest-rated recruit in program history with Miles Sadler.

In an interview with WV Sports Now’s Mike Asti at the Pittsburgh stop of the Coaches Caravan, Hodge explained his high level of confidence in Sadler.

“I think what gives me the most confidence about Miles is he understands that he has to get a lot better. And he’s humble, has a level of humility and willingness and wants to be coached and wants to get better and wants to be told the truth,” Hodge said.

Sadler is already an eye-catching player leading Bella Vista Prep to the Chipotle Nationals Championship with 24.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.7 steals per game. Hodge added the act of being coachable while possessing his level of talent shows he’s ready to contribute for WVU.

“Usually when you have those type of characteristics combined with a God-given ability and a God-given talent, that’s what gives me confidence that he’s ready,” Hodge said. “Not only … the physical attributes, but the mental attributes that a kid like that has will allow him to do great things right away.”

Ranked as a five-star recruit, a top five point guard and a top 25 recruit in the class of 2026 by numerous scouting services, Sadler is the highest-rated recruit to sign with West Virginia, according to the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Sadler, a 6-foot guard from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, currently attends Bella Vista Prep in Scottsdale, Ariz. Last year as a junior, he averaged 16 points, five assists, four rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.

Previously, Sadler attended Dream City Christian School in Glendale, Arizona. He played AAU basketball for Arizona Unity on the Nike EYBL circuit, where he averaged 13.8 points, 6.6 assists, 3.0 rebounds per game and a 4.1 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Sadler played for the Canadian National Team in the FIBA U17 World Cup last summer and averaged 13.9 points per game.

He chose West Virginia over Tennessee, UCLA, USC, Oklahoma and Maryland.
