WVU Basketball Finishes in Top 10 of Final National Recruiting Rankings
With 10 total commits, WVU basketball is ranked No. 10 in 247 Sports’ overall recruiting class rankings.
The rankings include all committed players, both transfers and freshman. WVU is also ranked No. 16 among transfer classes and No. 13 in high school recruiting.
Out of Big 12 teams, WVU is ranked second in overall recruiting, sitting only behind Kansas which is No. 3 overall.
Head coach Ross Hodge has been active in the portal, bringing in guard Joson Sanon, forward Seydou Traore, guard Martin Somerville, Center Mouhamed Sylla, guard Finley Bizjack and forward Javan Buchanan.
WVUโs freshman class is marked by guard Miles Sadler, center Amadou Seini, center Aliou Dioum and guard Keonte Greybear.
โOther than maybe a couple of guys, you knew there wasnโt a lot to figure out with your current roster, like you knew you were gonna lose a lot and you had to get a lot. And so we were able to be aggressive and really had the perfect combination of what the players were looking for, which is time and opportunity,โ Hodge said in an interview with WV Sports Nowโs Mike Asti at the Pittsburgh stop of the Coaches Caravan.
Time and opportunity were selling points for the players, but time is a luxury Hodge did not have last offseason. After a full year at the helm of WVU, he said a benefit is being able to put together a freshman recruiting class.
โI think one of the biggest things with, with this group thatโs incoming that we had that we didnโt have the previous time was just time,โ Hodge said. โAnd so, the ability to sign a good high school class in the fall kind of gets you off to a good start โฆ You sign one of the best point guards in the country (Miles Sadler), Aliou Dioum, And that helps your transfer portal recruiting.โ
