Final Bracketology Projections for Both WVU Basketball Men, Women

Hours before they learn their tournament fates on Selection Sunday, the final Brackeology updates have the WVU men and women both making their NCAA Tournaments.
The men’s selection show will air at 6 p.m. and the women’s at 8 p.m., and both Mountaineer squads should feel confident they’ll hear their names called.
The men’s chances took a hit with the team’s first-round loss in the Big 12 Tournament to last-place Colorado on Tuesday. Sitting at 19-12 at the end of the regular season, experts had the Mountaineers as a lock to make the tournament with over 90% odds to be in. Since then, WVU has slid back onto the bubble.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, in his update Sunday Morning, has the Mountaineers on the bubble as one of the last four byes. He has them as the No. 10 seed in the South Region, playing No. 7 Missouri in the first round in Cleveland.
CBS Sports’s Jerry Palm is lower on West Virginia, putting them in the First Four in Dayon. He has the Mountaineers the No. 11 seed in the South Region, but playing San Diego State in the First Four. They would then take on No. 6 Memphis in Wichita.
The WVU women are in much better standing. The Mountaineers had dreams of hosting the first two rounds this season but might just miss out as ESPN’s Charlie Creme has them as a No. 6 seed. He has them in Lexington, Ky., playing the winner of Iowa State and Columbia’s First Four game as the No. 11 seed. Host Kentucky is a No. 3 seed.
West Virginia went 24-7 this season, advancing to the semifinal round of the Big 12 Tournament.
The men’s Selection Show will start on CBS Sports at 6 p.m. and the women’s Selection Show will follow on ESPN at 8 p.m.
