Hodge Provides Update on WVU Basketball G Amir Jenkins Offseason Recovery
WVU basketball sophomore guard Amir Jenkins is in recovery after undergoing a second shoulder surgery this offseason, head coach Ross Hodge said in a press conference on Thursday.
Jenkins played most of the season with a torn labrum in his left shoulder before tearing his right in a matchup against TCU. The injuries sidelined him for the team’s College Basketball Crown championship run.
According to Hodge, Jenkins had surgery on his left shoulder shortly after the end of the season and underwent surgery on his right on July 1.
“Amir had surgery on his left shoulder pretty quickly after the season, and then once he was able to get range of motion to a certain degree, then he had surgery on his right one, which was like right at the first of July,” Hodge said.
Hodge added Jenkins is progressing well throughout the recovery process
“So he’s recovering from that one, making good progress in, in both of those and, um, you know, kinda just checking the boxes, range of motion.
Then you gotta get the strength, then you can get back out there with some non-contact, and you eventually can, uh, you know, get, make your way back all the way up to full contact with it.
Jenkins averaged 3.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists while averaging 16.0 minutes per game in 32 games as a freshman during the 2025-26 season.
