Jax State CB Derek Carter Announces Transfer to WVU
Another former Jacksonville State player is heading to Morgantown, as former Gamecock cornerback Derek Carter announced his internet to transfer to WVU on Wednesday.

Carter, a redshirt senior, played in 35 games at Jacksonville State, nabbing on interceptions. He was named second-team All-CUSA following the 2023 season when he defended eight passes and made 44 tackles.
Carter (5-11, 185) racked up 89 total tackles across three seasons with the Gamecocks with four tackles for loss. He has 10 total pass defenses with one interception.
An Alabama native, Carter is the latest former Jacksonville State player to follow head coach Rich Rodriguez to WVU. Fred Perry announced his transfer to WVU just minutes before Carter on Wednesday afternoon.
