Miles McBride Misses Opportunity to Start After Suffering Another Injury
For anyone wondering why Miles McBride did not play for the Knicks on Wednesday after his recent hot streak, he suffered a hamstring injury (according to reports) and was pulled from the lineup just before tip-off.
McBride was actually set to start due in place of Jalen Brunson, who is also out with a calf injury, before his own injury wouldn’t allow him to play either. Even without two of their top players, the Knicks still managed to win, beating the Jazz 119-108 on New Year’s Day.
Recently, McBride scored eight points while also adding three rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes of action on Christmas Day.
This is McBride’s second injury setback of the season.
Despite being interrupted by injury, McBrideโs season has already been historic from a personal perspective.
McBride reached 1,000 career points while contributing to the Knicksโ 145-118 win over the Denver Nuggets on Nov. 25.
Prior returning from injury in November, McBride was averaging 10.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists per game and a shooting percentage of 44% through 11 games played. McBrideโs last game played before Monday on was Nov. 13.
The 2024-25 season marks McBrideโs fourth NBA year after wrapping up a college career with WVU.
McBride wrapped up his third NBA season for the Knicks in May, falling to the Indiana Pacers in game seven of the Eastern Conference semifinals. McBride saw increased play, including starting during the playoffs. McBride averaged 8.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists through 68 regular season games and 11.0 points on 44% shooting in 26.7 minutes per contest in the playoffs.
Last December, McBride signed a $13 million extension with the Knicks over the next three years. The Knicks traded away several players throughout the season, allowing McBride to pick up more minutes in the rotation.
McBride played two seasons at West Virginia from 2019-21, leading the Mountaineers to an NCAA Tournament appearance during his sophomore year. McBride averaged 15.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game at WVU.
