Sharron Young, a Morgantown High School product, received an offer from South Carolina State head coach Erik Martin on Saturday. Martin was an assistant under Bob Huggins at West Virginia from 2007-22.

“After a great conversation with Coach Erik Martin, I’m blessed to receive my first HBCU offer from South Carolina State University. Thanks [coach],” Young wrote on Twitter.

Young (6-foot, 150 pounds) is not ranked yet by the main recruiting databases but holds offers from Drexel, Mount St. Mary’s, Radford, Southeastern Louisiana, SC State and Youngstown State. Young led Morgantown HS to back-to-back WV Class 4a State Championship’s in 2022 and 2023.

Young recently visited West Virginia in February.

Martin took the SC State head coaching job in July 2022, leaving WVU for the first time in 15 years. Martin recruited half of his team late in the transfer portal period, ended up 5-26 during his first season. Martin did secure an upset victory over East Carolina.
