Mountaineers Land 4-Star Safety

Published

on

On Monday evening, Kwantel Raines (Aliquippa, Pa.) announced his commitment to West Virginia over offers from Penn State, Florida, and Pittsburgh.

The 4-star prospect holds over 20 offers and is considered one of the top players in the entire state of Pennsylvania and visited Morgantown this past weekend to watch the Mountaineers host Oklahoma State.

West Virginia was the first to offer Raines in March of 2016 and immediately became a front-runner to land Raines’ commitment.

At 6-3, 200-pounds, Raines has an excellent frame and is an even better athlete. He is by far the best player for the Aliquippa Quips, lining up all over the field on offense and defense. His talents are best served at safety, where his ability to cover and make open field tackles shine through.
