Despite most predicting another tough season for WVU in 2023, Pro Football Focus is offering a sign of hope for the Mountaineers.

When PFF released their list of their highest graded offensive lineman in the Big 12, two of the best are from one team – West Virginia. A Mountaineer is also at the top of the mountain as well.

Already having ranked Zach Frazier as the second best center in the entire county, PFF has him with the highest grade among all offensive lineman in the conference with 80.8 points. Joining Frazier is Wyatt Milum in seventh place with a grade of 74.8.

Frazier’s inclusion is no surprise. He’s already projected to be drafted into the NFL next year. But Milum, a junior who started all 12 games at left tackle in 2022, being on the list shows offensive line could be big strength for WVU.

Baylor is the only other Big 12 team with two offensive lineman graded in the top 10.

An offensive line can’t win games for a team by themselves, but a bad one can help to lose them. Doug Nester returning, the ascension of younger members of the line and the offensive strategy heavily focused on the running game could all combine for a clear path to proving doubters wrong in Morgantown.

In other news, PFF showed some love to a member of the WVU defense.
