WVU’s Sean McNeil, Jalen Bridges Named to 2022 Academic All-Big 12 Men’s Basketball Team

The Big 12 Conference announced the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 Men’s Basketball Team. On the team includes West Virginia players Sean McNeil and Jalen Bridges. McNeil was named to the first team on Tuesday, while Bridges made the second team.

 

McNeil is a senior from Union, KY, who is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Last year, McNeil made the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team. On the floor, McNeil is averaging 12.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists through 26 games.

Bridges is a sophomore from Fairmont, W. Va., who is pursuing a degree in Sports Management. Bridges made the Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2021. The forward is averaging 9.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
