Victor Scott will represent the WVU baseball program as part of the St. Louis Cardinals’ Opening Day roster. And even though he got the start in center field last year, Scott is now hoping this latest honor leads to a longer stay in the Big Leagues in 2025.

Scott earned another crack at starting the season with the Cardinals due to tearing it up during Spring Training. He hit .349 with four home runs and seven RBI in 16 games this spring. He also continued to display his speed with five stolen bases on seven attempts.

Scott went only 5-for-65 after opening up the 2024 season in St. Louis before being optioned back to Triple A. He played another game with the Cardinals in June as an injury replacement before being optioned back to the minors.

Scott did experience some big personal moments, including hitting his first MLB home run, after being called up late in the season.

A two year starter for the Mountaineers, Scott slashed .254/.368/.419 with 11 homers and 68 stolen bases in parts of three seasons in Morgantown, making his mark as a speedy baserunner and capable outfielder.

St. Louis drafted Scott in the fifth round in 2022. He rose quickly through the Cardinalsโ€™ system, finishing near the top of the minor league standings with 94 stolen bases in 2023, his first and only full season as a member of the farm system.

He played another game with the Cardinals in June as an injury replacement before being optioned back to the minors.
