JJ Quinerly to Miss Rest of WNBA Season Due to ACL Sprain
Former WVU standout guard JJ Quinerly will miss the rest of her WNBA rookie season with the Dallas Wings after a sprain to her left ACL, the Wings announced Sunday.
Dallas Wings guard JJ Quinerly will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sprain in her left knee. Quinerly sustained the injury in the Los Angeles Sparks game on Aug. 20.

According to Dallas, Quinerly suffered the injury Aug. 20 against the Los Angeles Sparks. She is expected to make a full recovery.
Quinerly was drafted in the third round by the Wings in the 2025 WNBA Draft. She has played in 34 games this season and started 13, averaging 15.9 minutes, 6.5 points and 2.3 assists per game.
The former Mountaineer made her first WNBA start on June 28 against the Washington Mystics. She tallied a team-high 15 points in the matchup, becoming the team’s Player of the Game.
She made history this season, becoming the first WNBA third round rookie since 1999 to score 15 points or more in three consecutive games.
JJ Quinerly Carving Out Solid Rookie Season, Makes WNBA History
Quinerly will go down as one of the greatest players in WVU womenโs basketball history. Staying with the Mountaineers through three different head coaches, Quinerly led the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances while racking up three All-Big 12 first-team selections, back-to-backย Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Awardsย and twoย All-American honorable mentions. She finished her WVU career in theย top three of all-time career pointsย and steals.
The Virginia native averaged a career-high 20.4 points this season with 3.2 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. She scored double-digit points in all but one game this season, reaching 20 points 14 times and 30 points three times. She matched the program record for single-game scoring with 38 points on Senior Day against Utah.
Quinerly led WVU to a 25-8 record during the 2024-25 season, making it to the semifinal round of the Big 12 Tournament. The Mountaineers earned a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament and defeated Columbia in the opening round before falling to North Carolina.
