WVU basketball caught fire against Niagara in a 91-46 win to open the season. While the win was expected, West Virginia tallied some eye-popping stats on the night, per an article basketunderreview.com.

WVU made statistical history, according to Stathead. The Mountaineers did this by attempting 16 more field goals while not allowing even one offensive rebound, a statical anomaly in a game since the creation of the Stathead site.

Other stats highlighted were the fact that WVU forced 22 turnovers and did not allow a made free throw from the Purple Eagles.

Rebounding was a team effort Monday. While sophomore center Mouhamed Sylla led with seven, fifth-year forward Javan Buchanan followed with six while fifth-year forward Brenen Lorient and junior guard Joson Sanon tallied five apiece.

WVU will play again on Friday night when it hosts Stetson at 7 p.m. ET at Hope Coliseum.
