West Virginia Football Extends Offer to Minnesota Transfer DB Beanie Bishop

West Virginia has extended an offer to a transferring defensive back with tons of college experience.

Minnesota transfer Beanie Bishop announced he received an offer from the Mountaineers on Friday evening. After making his decision to transfer known on Feb. 23, Bishop would be joining his next team as a grad transfer.

Bishop, listed at 5’10” and 185 pounds, spent the 2022 season playing in the Big Ten with Minnesota. He played in all 13 games and posted 20 solo tackles, 9 assists and a sack for the Gophers.

Prior to transferring to Minnesota, Bishop stood out in Conference USA with Western Kentucky, totaling 76 career tackles with 8.5 tackles for loss, 12 passes defended, three interceptions, and a forced fumble. Bishop was named to the All-Conference USA first team in 2021.

WVU is still looking to replace the experience in the secondary lost after with the departure of Charles Woods, who decided to finish out his college career at SMU.
