West Virginia has New Field in Latest Bracketology Projection

In Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology projections, that were released on Friday morning, the ESPN analyst has West Virginia in a new field.

1. Duke
16. Texas Southern / Nicholls
8. Loyola Chicago
9. Michigan
5. Providence
12. Iona
4. Iowa State
13. Toledo
6. UConn
11. UAB
3. USC
14. Grand Canyon
7. West Virginia
10. Saint Mary’s / Mississippi State
2. Michigan State
15. Princeton

For WVU, there’s not much to take away from this projection. The Mountaineers stay at the 7-seed but see a potential interesting second-round matchup against Michigan State. West Virginia is projected to play the winner of the play-in game, but I don’t think that’s ever happened to the 10-seed, so that’s unlikely.

The most interesting point in this bracket is the projected matchup between UConn and UAB, who WVU both defeated in December. The 7-seed ranking for West Virginia at this point in the season is fair.

Big 12 Projected Seeds

Baylor – 1 Seed
Kansas – 2 Seed
Iowa State – 4 Seed
Texas – 6 Seed
Texas Tech – 7 Seed
West Virginia – 7 Seed
Oklahoma – 8 Seed
TCU – Next Four Out
