Following Bob Huggins’ released statement claiming he did not write the resignation papers, West Virginia University released their counter argument in a detailed letter Monday night.

WVU’s Vice President and General Counsel Stephanie Taylor writes the letter with various bullet points. Here’s a few points that were mentioned in the letter:

  • Huggins’ lawyer was involved with resignation talks the day of
  • University accommodated with Huggins to send the message from his wife’s account because Huggins doesn’t know how to use email
  • Huggins talked to Steve Uryasz over the phone, suggesting interims
  • Huggins cleaned out his office the next day and spoke with Director of Athletics Wren Baker

Huggins released a statement earlier on Monday night stating that he did not accept resignation and did not write the statement sent out to the public.

Over the weekend, Huggins’ lawyers wrote a letter to WVU demanding a reinstatement or else they will sue.

Huggins was charged of DUI on June 16 before resigning just 24 hours later. This was the second time in weeks that Huggins put negative light on the University after using an anti-gay slur over a Cincinnati radio station back in May.
