WVU Signs Georgia Linebacker Michael Hastie

Michael Hastie made his commitment official to WVU by signing his National Letter of Intent. Hastie is a native of Douglasville, Georgia and played his high school ball at Douglas County High School.
Hastie hopes to continue the success of the WVU linebacker group, that as of recent years has signed Trey Lathan, Josiah Trotter and transfer Reid Carrico.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker seems to have flown under the radar in regards to ranking. He is a three-star across the recruiting board.ย However, On3 has graded out at an 89 overall.ย Along with that, On3 has rated Etienne the 40th overall linebacker recruit in the country, and the 61st overall recruit in the football powerhouse state of Georgia.
Hastieโs recruiting process started in the first third of 2023, gaining his first P4 offer from Cincinnati.ย ย In June of 2023, the Mountaineers offered Hastie, and he took his official visit in June of 2024. The Mountaineers gained his commitment on June 24th, only 17 days after his official visit to Morgantown.
Hastie held 28 offers, including offers from: SMU, Texas A&M, UNC, Minnesota, Indiana, Kansas, Florida State, Louisville, and Pittsburgh, amongst others.
