2023 DE Recruit Markus Strong Announces Offer from Mountaineers
When it comes to building a successful program, the work never stops. WVU was apparently putting in work late Monday on Halloween night.
Markus Strong, a class of 2023 defensive end recruit, announced on Twitter that he received an offer from the Mountaineers after talking with a member of the coaching staff on the phone. Strong mentioned he was speaking with assistant defensive line coach Andrew Jackson before the offer was extended.
After a phone call with @CoachJaxDL I am blessed to receive an offer from West Virginia University! @NealBrown_WVU @CoachPorrecaWVU @WVUfootball @rileyreeduf @C_Mart1353 @austindukes54 @_CoachThomas77 @Andrew_Ivins #HailWV pic.twitter.com/QSnpghVAtx

Strong attends Union County High School in Lake Butler, Florida. He lists himself as 6’4 and 280 pounds in his Twitter bio, but is said to be 6’5 by outlets like 247 Sports.
Just a few hours before tweeting his WVU offer, Strong made it known he also has an offer from Houston. He announced an offer from Oklahoma the day prior. In addition to those offers, Strong has an opportunity with Arkansas State, FIU, FAU, Georgia Tech, Liberty, Maryland, Memphis, South Alabama, Toledo, Troy, Tulane, UAB, UCF, Maryland, USF and Western Kentucky.
Needless to say, WVU could really use a quality defensive end to help their pass rush for years to come. Landing Strong would also help to further the Mountaineers’ standing in Florida.
