A journey that started in Germany could end up in West Virginia. Jayden Price, a class of 2025 athlete from a high school that’s part of Western Pennsylvania’s WPIAL, was able to get a glimpse of what life could be like as a Mountaineer during his recent trip down south to Morgantown.

After returning home, the Seneca Valley product, who moved to the area for high school after being born in Germany and growing up in Texas, talked to WV Sports Now about his WVU visit and how the West Virginia staff views him position wise.

Price (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) was impressed by what the WVU football program has to offer. In fact, he says the facility is the best he’s experienced.

“It went really well. I liked the coaches a lot and the facility was the best that I’ve seen out of any school that I’ve been to. The coaches were very welcoming and I had a lot of good conversations with a lot of them,” he said.

As a true athlete, Price plays both defensive back and wide receiver in high school. He also runs on the track team. But if Price decides to become a Mountaineer, it will likely be as a safety.

“They said they could really see me at safety and they like my size and how I’m physical in press. They also like that I can hit,” explained Price.

This seems to be similar to what he’s hearing from other schools. He stressed he’s willing to try any position and does enjoy being able to tackle and hit, which places his interest on the defensive side of the ball anyway.

Even though he did not grow up completely in Western Pennsylvania, Price is still familiar with the football landscape. And in terms of if he supports any of the college programs within the region, he says he has always liked both West Virgina and Penn State. Ironically enough, Price has spent time in State College checking out Penn State too. He even attended a game at Beaver Stadium during the 2023 season.

Up next for Price is a trip to Oxford, Ohio and a visit with Miami University there.
