7 Ex-Mountaineers Complete NBA Summer League Slate
Seven former West Virginia basketball players participated in the NBA Summer League this month. Let’s take a look how each player did with their teams.
RaeQuan Battle, Charlotte Hornets
Stats: 3.3 PTS, 7.8 minutes, 3 games
Battle received an invitation to summer league from the Hornets following the NBA draft. Battle is now fighting for a two-way contract. His California Classic debut for the Hornets was his best performance throughout the summer. Battle recorded an efficient 12 points on six shots in 14 minutes.
Battle also opened up about his Native American heritage during an interview for Hornets.com.

Jalen Bridges, Phoenix Suns
Stats: 10.8 PTS, 2.2REB, 1.0 AST, 43% FG, 17.9 minutes, 5 games
Bridges signed a two-way deal with the Suns following the NBA draft. The Fairmont native went undrafted but is getting an opportunity in Phoenix.
Jesse Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves
Stats: 5.6 PTS, 4.4 REB, 1.0 AST, 1.0 BLK, 44% FG, 17.6 minutes, 5 games
Edwards signed a two-way deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves after an impressive effort during the draft process. The Netherlands native worked his way from the Reese’s All-Star Game to an NBA draft combine invite. Edwards struggled at the beginning of the curcuit but had his moments of scoring 10-plus points and pulling down 10-plus rebounds in different games.

Emmitt Matthews Jr., Atlanta Hawks
Stats: 1.0 PTS, 10.9 minutes, 2 games
Tre Mitchell, Oklahoma City Thunder
Stats: 6.0 PTS, 3.7 REB, 18.0 minutes, 3 games
Gabe Osabuohien, Cleveland Cavaliers
Stats: 2.3 PTS, 1.3 REB, 1.8 AST, 8.6 minutes, 4 games
Osabuohien is familiar with Cleveland’s organization, playing for the Cavaliers’ G-League team the past two seasons.
Erik Stevenson, Washington Wizards
Stats: 6.7 PTS, 11.5 minutes, 3 games
Stevenson appeared in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, scoring an efficient seven points on 3-of-3 shooting from the field. Stevenson did record two fouls as well during his short time on the floor. The Lacey, Wa. native played with the Austin Spurs (San Antonio) and Texas Legends (Dallas) G-League teams last year.
