Breaking: West Virginia Secures Commitment From 2022 JUCO Big Jimmy Bell Jr.

Following a successful visit to Morgantown over the weekend, 2022 JUCO big man Jimmy Bell Jr. committed to West Virginia. Bell made the announcement official on Sunday night.

“I’m looking forward to bringing bully ball, toughness, and winning back to Motown,” Bell told WV Sports Now. “I can’t wait to see and play in front of all of the fans. LET’S RIDE!!!”

Bell cut his list down to West Virginia, ETSU, Oakland and Sam Houston State.

Bell (6-foot-10, 280 pounds) arrived in Morgantown on Friday and left on Sunday morning with his mind already made. The JUCO product met with Bob Huggins and the rest of the coaching staff. Bell even got to meet up with former WVU guard Miles “Deuce” McBride during his time in Morgantown.

Bell has spent this past season at Moberly Area CC in Missouri, averaging 9.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.5 blocks on 59 percent shooting. The Saginaw, MI, native spent two seasons at Saint Louis under head coach Travis Ford. Bell appeared in 50 games for the Billikens, averaging 3.1 points and 2.6 rebounds on 49 percent shooting. Bell has two years of eligibility remaining.

With the commitment from Bell, West Virginia has one more scholarship to fill for the 2022-23 basketball season. WV Sports Now will keep up to date with the latest recruiting and transfer portal news during the offseason.
