West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins was disappointed in his team allowing 48 points in the paint in a 76-72 loss to No. 15 TCU on Tuesday.

“Totally absurd,” Huggins said on the radio.

TCU had anything they wanted against West Virginia, driving into the lanes and finding any backdoor cut they wanted. The Horned Frogs’ great pace played part in the large number of paint shots against WVU. TCU’s Damion Baugh, JaKobe Coles, Shahada Wells and Xavier Cork played a big part in setting the tone against West Virginia, scoring a combined 64 points among the four. TCU connected on just 2-three’s all game.

Huggins said it was more than just allowing 48 points in the paint.

“You’ve got guys making excuses. Your leaders are not leading,” Huggins said. “We may have to find ourselves some new leaders.”

West Virginia hosts Oklahoma in Morgantown on Saturday at 8 p.m. Huggins asks for support from the fans once again this weekend.

“A great crowd again would certainly be helpful, understandably if not a sold-out deal because we should be going home high instead of going home with our head in our hands.”
