Bob Huggins, Scott Drew to Represent Big 12 Conference in New York City
The Big 12 Conference announced that men’s basketball coaches Bob Huggins (West Virginia) and Scott Drew (Baylor) will be joining new commissioner Brett Yormark in New York City next week. The trio will be representing the conference in an all-day branding event on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to amplify the Big 12 with traditional and non-traditional sports media, and to lay a foundation for us to build off as we contemporize the brand,” Yormark said in a press release. “It’s an exciting time for the Conference as we prepare to welcome four new members and expand our footprint across three time zones. Coming to New York allows us to further tell our story, spotlight our accomplishments, and highlight the bright future ahead.”
Huggins and Drew have had recent national success in the world of college basketball. Huggins was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2022 in September. Scott led his Bears to their first NCAA Tournament championship in 2021, reaching an elite level for his program.
Yormark has been consistent with his goal as new Big 12 commissioner since taking over office in August. The former Co-CEO of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation wants to brand the conference nation wide.
“There’s no doubt that the Big 12 is open for business,” Yormark said during Big 12 football media days.
