BREAKING: CB Tavian Mayo officially signs with West Virginia

Published

on

Leesburg (GA) defensive back Tavian Mayo has officially signed with West Virginia.

Mayo chose the Mountaineers over other offers from North Carolina, Iowa State, Nebraska and a few others. Mayo has been a West Virginia lean for quite some time and supposedly made a verbal commitment to the Mountaineers during his official visit at the end of January.

There’s no question that the corner position lacks depth heading into 2019, which is why you see Neal Brown’s staff loading a U-Haul full of defensive backs in this class.

Mayo will likely start seeing more playing time in year two, but if he impresses in camp, he could find his way on special teams and gain some experience on defense in a handful of games before the staff has to decide on whether to redshirt him or not.
