COVID Knocks Frankfort, Keyser Out of AA Playoffs; Class A No. 1 Tug Valley on Brink

UPDATE, 4:24 p.m. 11/13 – Clay County has also been forced out of the Class AA playoffs due to COVID concerns. Bluefield is awarded a forfeit win and advances to next weekend’s state quarterfinals to take on North Marion.
The WVSSAC tweeted Thursday afternoon announcing specifically that Keyser and Frankfort will not take part in the Class AA state high school football playoffs.
The state’s high school sports governing body specifically named Class AA No. 3 Frankfort and No. 7 Keyser as teams not playing “due to Coivd” but went on to say that Independence (Frankfort’s opponent), North Marion (Frankfort’s opponent) and Class A No. 16 Tygarts Valley, set to face Tug Valley this weekend, will all advance to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs. UPDATE: The Class A No. 1 Panthers are still in the field as of now according to WBOY’s Ryan Decker.
The final decision on the Tygarts Valley vs Tug Valley football playoff game will be forthcoming.
No official decision has been made.
