Former WVU Player Goes from Mountaineers to Marshall, Committing to Thundering Herd

Despite being cut by WVU after spring practice, Zah Jackson is going to stay and play in West Virginia after all. Not long after Jackson officially entered the transfer portal on the first day it opened, he received an immediate offer from the only other Division I program in the state. A day later, he has now accepted that offer and committed to Marshall.

Marshall sent Jackson his first and only publicized offer as he looked for a new program. Beyond just trying to benefit from a Power Four cast off, Marshall adding Jackson makes sense.

Jackson is a Huntington, W.Va. native and a product of perennial power Huntington High School.

The Thundering Herd also offered Jackson out of high school, but he quickly turned his attention to his Power Four offers overs staying at home in Huntington.

Before eventually signing with West Virginia in December, Jackson revealed his other top schools as Liberty, Mississippi State, and North Carolina State. Jackson also held offers from Appalachian State, Toledo among others.

North Carolina State offered Jackson in October of last year, and he took two unofficial visits to Raleigh, N.C.. West Virginia then entered his recruiting process in July 2023 with an offer.  The Mountaineers gained a commitment from Jackson in April of 2024 and then hosted him on an official visit in June.
