HIGHLIGHT: Former WVU Star Will Grier Jukes Out Steelers Defender for Touchdown

Former West Virginia quarterback Will Grier may not have gotten to start the second half of the Carolina Panthers’ third preseason game, but he made it count once he got into the game.

Grier took over for Panthers’ backup P.J. Walker late in the second half and made the most of his limited opportunity. Taking a snap in the empty backfield, Grier showed off his wheels by racing through a yawning hole in the line and juked Pittsburgh Steelers’ safety Lamont Wade to the ground to waltz into the end zone for a 24-yard touchdown.

After a strong showing last week against the Baltimore Ravens, Grier completed five of seven passes for 47 yards and rushed for the touchdown on a 24-yard carry. It may not be enough to unseat Walker as the Panthers’ backup quarterback, but it certainly will draw attention from the coaching staff.
