Even knowing a coaching change would mean the loss of players, Hudson Clement was one WVU fans wanted to keep. However, he’s now officially gone and signed on with another program.

On Thursday, Clement signed on with Illinois. On3 Sports was first to report the news. Clement ended up picking Illinois about to weeks after entering the transfer portal on Dec. 20.

Clement became an instant fan favorite throughout the last two seasons. He initially started off as a walk-on out of Martinsburg, W.Va. and then eventually earned a full scholarship after a breakout performance early in the 2023 season.

In 2024, Clement caught 51 balls for 741 yards and scored five touchdowns. Heโ€™s coming off a monster performance in West Virginiaโ€™s 42-37 Frisco Bowl loss as well.

Against Memphis, Clement made 11 receptions for 166 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns.

Clement recorded 73 receptions for 1,221 yards and scored nine touchdowns in two years with West Virginia.

HUGE loss. Nicco staying was great news but this is a big one. Clemente over the middle for 15 yds every time. He’s a stud

Big disappointment for a kid from WV to seek โ€œgreenerโ€ pasture elsewhereโ€ฆ

I loved his tenacity and determination to get the job done while on the field. This is something that was not taught – it is innate. If it was able to be taught, the team would have done better the past 6 seasons. Nonethess, I expect RR to fully replace the offensive stars that are leaving with equivalent or better replacements overall.

Too bad. I wonder how much Illinois is paying him? The NCAA has got to pay the players, not the individual
    schools.

Wow! Just wow! Illinois? In what universe is that ever an upgrade?

Assuming this has to do with B1G NIL revenue dollars. I agree though, Illinois seems weird, a โ€œme tooโ€ Big 10 team.

Back to WVU, super excited to see the Singleton Jr. commitment, Thompson and Matthew Henry have scheduled visits. This has the potential to be the best WR room in years.

No loyalty to a program or the state!
