Iron Sharpens Iron for Simaj Hill | WVU Football All 105
All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2026 WVU Football Roster.
There’s a mountain of difference between high school and Power Four football, but it’s tough to prepare for that transition better than three-star cornerback Simaj Hill did. Hill played at Philadelphia’s Saint Joseph’s Prep, one of the nation’s top programs and a veritable factory of NFL talent: just last season, the Hawks faced DeMatha and St. Frances Academy, teams ranked among the top 15 according to MaxPreps.
Hill may not have attended IMG Academy, but he held his own against that caliber of player, drawing just 13 targets on the season. Of those targets, he allowed just two catches and broke up nine passes from the safety position. The Mountaineers think Hill, who stands six feet tall and weighs 182 pounds, has the speed to play cornerback, which is where he’s listed on the roster.
It’s one of the toughest positions to play on the gridiron, but Hill has already made a habit of proving himself.
32 • Simaj Hill, freshman cornerback
Last Year: N/A

Post-Camp Outlook: WVU Football had one of the worst secondaries in the nation during each of the past two seasons. Even with a position group in flux, Hill still faces an uphill battle for playing time given how big of a jump there is between high school and college passing games.
Projected Role: Expect a redshirt year in 2026: Hill could check in to some early season blowouts, but he probably won’t play more than four games as he gets up to speed with the Mountaineers.
Accolades, Highlights: A three-star recruit in high school, Hill played at one of the best programs in the nation in Saint Joseph’s Prep.
