Former West Virginia point guard Brandon Knapper announced on Twitter last night that he has committed to transferring to Eastern Kentucky University.

Knapper entered his name into the transfer portal immediately following the end of the season back in March.

A sophomore, Knapper averaged 3.9 points in 59 career games at WVU. As a redshirt freshman, the South Charleston, WV native, played in 32 games, making four starts. He averaged 5.0 points and 1.4 assists in 13.8 minutes per game.

This season, Knapper’s role shrank as West Virginia’s rotation increased to 12 players, he averaged 8.4 minutes per game, scoring 2.6 points. Knapper finished the season on a cold streak, making just one of his final 21 field goal attempts. His final basket of the season came on Feb. 1. He went scoreless in eight games following that.

This season Eastern Kentucky finished 16-17, 12-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Colonels were led in scoring by sophomore guard Jomaru Brown who averaged 18.4 points per game.

Knapper will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
