Knicks G Miles ‘Deuce’ McBride Happy WVU Hired Internally

New York Knicks G Miles “Deuce” McBride expressed his thoughts on Josh Eilert becoming the interim head coach of West Virginia’s basketball program. Eilert was promoted last weekend to replace Bob Huggins, who resigned.
“I’m truly happy the University decided to hire from within. Josh is more than capable to be the leader of the program and no one will work harder to make Mountaineer Nation proud,” McBride said.

WVU Director of Athletics Wren Baker conducted a national search to find either a short or long-term hire. Baker and officials interviewed candidates virtually and some in person. After seven days, Baker decided to stay in-house for the 2023-24 season and resume the national search next spring. Baker says Eilert will be evaluated at the end of the season and will be considered if his performance is well.
Eilert is now making $1.5 million over the next 10 months.
McBride saw more opportunities during his second year in the NBA with the Knicks. McBride appeared in 64 games, averaging 11.9 minutes per contest. McBride averaged 3.5 points and 1.1 assists this past season. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native shot 36 percent from the field this year.
The Knicks recently picked up McBride’s team option before NBA free agency began. McBride will make $1.8 million during the 2023-24 season in his third year with the Knicks.
