Konate declares for 2019 NBA Draft

Morgantown, WV – Big news coming from the men’s basketball program today as we learned that big man Sagaba Konate has declared for the NBA Draft.

Konate missed the majority of the season due to a knee injury and was figured to be heading to the next level after this season anyways.

Although Konate has declared, he can still return to the Mountaineers. Coach Huggins explained, “Per NCAA rules , in order to gain feedback from people associated with the NBA, players are required to submit the necessary paperwork to request an evaluation. Sags plans to do this while leaving open his option to return.”

Although it would make sense for Konate to return for one more season, it is very unlikely due to the rise of Derek Culver and incoming freshman Oscar Tshiebwe ready to take the spotlight.
