West Virginia currently sits at 15-11 with five regular season games to go. Mountaineers will then head to the Big 12 Conference Tournament in hopes to solidify their NCAA Tournament resume. Let’s take a look at the different scenarios WVU could be in the next month and where the computer has them at on Selection Sunday.

WVU’s Remaining Schedule:

vs. Texas Tech

vs. Oklahoma State

@ Kansas

@ Iowa State

vs. Kansas State

All predictions will be used by BartTorvik‘s system.

Scenario No. 1:

West Virginia wins the remaining home games, loses both road games. WVU then wins one game in the Big 12 tournament.

Result: 7-seed

Scenario No. 2:

West Virginia goes 2-1 at home, loses both road games. WVU then wins one game in the Big 12 tournament.

Result: 11-seed, no play-in

Scenario No. 3:

West Virginia wins the remaining home games, loses both road games. WVU then loses first round of Big 12 tournament.

Result: 9-seed

Scenario No. 4:

West Virginia goes 2-1 at home, loses both road games. WVU then loses first round of Big 12 tournament.

Result: 11-seed, play-in at Dayton

Scenario No. 5:

West Virginia finishes out regular season 4-1. WVU then wins one game in the Big 12 tournament.

Result: 5-seed

Scenario No. 6:

West Virginia finishes out regular season 1-4. WVU then loses first round of Big 12 tournament.

Result: No NCAA Tournament bid

Once again, the computers love West Virginia and their metrics. It takes a lot in a scenario for them to miss the tournament. As long as WVU takes care of business at home, they’ll be dancing in March.

Based on all of these possible scenarios, how confident are you WVU makes the NCAA Tournament and is part of March Madness this year?
