Network, Kickoff Time Announced for WVU Hosting UCF for Senior Day
The last WVU football home game this season against UCF will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. and be broadcast on ESPNU, the Big 12 conference announced on Sunday morning. West Virginia (5-5, 4-3 Big 12) hosts UCF (4-6, 2-5) at Milan Puskar Stadium in the penultimate game of the regular season on Saturday.
The Golden Knights, who were on a bye this week, have struggled since the start of conference play, dropping six of their last seven games. A win over Arizona two games ago snapped a five-game skid that dated back to late September.
UCF lost to Arizona State, 35-31, in its last game. The Sun Devils were without star running back Cam Skattebo, but scored the go-ahead touchdown with less than five minutes left in the fourth quarter. UCF outgained ASU 406-260, but lost the turnover battle and missed a pair of field goals.
West Virginia lost 49-35 on Saturday against Baylor.
A high-scoring first half gave way to a defensive-focused third quarter as the Bears hung on to a touchdown lead, 35-28. Baylor scored twice in the fourth quarter to go up by 21 points, 49-28 and a WVU touchdown with less than a minute to play was too little, too late for the home team.
It was the third straight home loss by double digits for the Mountaineers, who are 2-4 in Morgantown this season. Next week’s meeting with the Golden Knights is WVU’s final home game of the season.
West Virginia is 3-0 all-time against UCF. The teams met as Big 12 foes for the first time last season, a 41-28 Mountaineer victory in Orlando, Fla. Before that, the teams played in back-to-back years in 2003 and 2004. WVU won 36-18 in 2003 and 45-20 in 2004.
The 2003 game was the one and only time the Golden Knights have played in Morgantown. Next week will be the second time as UCF travels to Milan Puskar Stadium.
For a related story, WVU fans were disgusted by a third straight home loss.
