As he now embarks on a long recovery to get ready for next season, WVU wide receiver Traylon Ray took a moment to comment about the serious injury he endured against Baylor on Saturday night.
“l appreciate all the messages I’ve been receiving from everyone. The surgery went great and I’ll make a full recovery! Sometimes you might not fully understand Godโs plan but you have to trust it! Much love to mountaineer nation, I’ll be back better than ever. GO NEERS!,” posted Ray on social media.

Ray reports the surgery went well and he expects to make a full recovery and continue his college career.
It was instantly clear to everyone who saw what happened that Ray experienced a gruesome leg injury and would miss the rest of the 2024 season as well as any potential bowl game.
WVU head coach Neal Brown then confirmed the severity of Ray’s injury during his postgame press conference.
โTraylonโs injury wasnโt good,โ Brown said. โWe donโt need to talk about it, it wasnโt good.โ
With 5:41 remaining in the third quarter of what ended up being a WVU loss to Baylor, Ray went down and had to be carted off the field. Many of his teammates went over to wish him well before he was taken into the locker room.
โHeโll recover, heโll be fine, but he wonโt play this year,โ Brown said. He even admitted that the incident was tough for his team to overcome emotionally.
